at the Ideal Home Show?  Well the show is back and this year it’s bringing it’s super sweet best friend ‘The Cake and Bake Show‘!  For what’s sure to be an amazing weekend the two events will take place at Event City and you could win tickets for you and a friend to come along.

rosemary shrager, john whaiteI’ll be there of course (just try and keep me away) but so will some much more exciting folk such as John Whaite (lovely baking bloke), Katie Piper (completely inspirational lady), Rosemary Shrager (whose cooking I could watch all day long) and Laurence Llewllyn Bowen (who you all know I LOVE!).

There’ll be a marketplace where you can get started on your Christmas shopping, presentations and lessons by all your favourite celebrity chefs and even the Great British Bake Off live.

My favourite thing about Christmas? I really like wrapping gifts! Nothing fancy but I find it really relaxing! I also love feeding my Christmas cakes for weeks in advance and plumping them up with booze!

  • Lucy Gillhespy

My favourite thing about Christmas is baking gingerbread and other yummy Christmas treats for my family and friends . I do this whilst listening to “A Very She and Him Christmas” and of course Michael Buble and his Christmas songs! My house smells amazing and I eat all the oddly shaped mistakes with a glass of mulled wine at the end of the day!

Here’s a few of my previous Christmas bakes 🙂

I love the run-up to Christmas. I love the cold, dark shopping evenings holding (red) cups of Starbucks hot chocolate. I like wearing big, chunky scarves and fur-lined boots. And rosy cheeks and red noses.
I like the Christmas windows on the high street, the way Christmas makes you think of others for a change.
I like the way my mum always says “Have you decided what you’re doing for Christmas yet?” when she knows I’ll be at her house with bells on come Christmas morning.
I like wrapping presents with brown paper and ribbon and seeing the faces when they’re opened.
I like that even though I’m supposed to be a grown-up, I still get a little flutter of excitement in my tummy on Christmas Eve. I still leave a glass of milk and a carrot by the fire, and I still have a little secret glimmer of hope that it’ll be gone in the morning.
I like tramping to the car down the frosty driveway with a basketful of presents and mince pies and my contributions to the Christmas feast, and the way I can see my breath in the air.
I like the way the house smells when we’re cooking, and the steam from the par-boiled potatoes that fogs up my grandma’s glasses. I like the way nothing even comes close to my grandma’s stuffing recipe.
And I like how I’ll pass that same recipe on to my daughter when eventually the time comes.

I love making it special for my little boy. Lots of hot chocolate and yummy food too. Love Christmas films and snuggling up to watch them

I love picking our tree, usually in the cold rain. Putting the decorations on it, some very vintage from my Auntie who is now 86. Watching our favourite films. I love cooking the big Christmas dinner and playing with my son and his new toys. This year we have a first and we’re going to my middle daughter’s for boxing day. I just love Christmas.

Nothing beats spending a few days solely with those close to you. A complete Turkey filled oasis. X
