Be a social butterfly...

Another selection of beautiful pin up images, this time celebrating New Year.  I hope next year is your best yet!

I do not own these images; I just love them and have tried to include the name of the artist where known. If you have anything that you would like to send to me, please feel free to find me on my FB page and get in contact there.

The artist is likely Varga(Also known as Vargas) who was a prolific painter/illustrator from the 50’s all the way up to the 80’s of pin-ups and movie stars. There were two other men in the 50’s that also painted such images. With a little research you will discover their names as the three were often compared. Vargas was the most well known and although the pin-ups were considered racy in their era, today we would consider them tame. They idealized the feminine form but retained a sense of reality in the shape that is largely lacking in later eras of waif-like models. They also displayed a certain flirty innocence, in stark contrast to today’s sullen , stoic or angry models. The models were often stars or starletts and in later eras, featured in magazines for men. However, many an artist can appreciate the skill and joy of life present in his work and admire it. I had a highly collectable set of playing cards(never used) that were made by him and I enjoyed the art and vintage style.
