Ashleigh & Burwood White Christmas Candle – Review and Competition
Exactly how far ahead of the big day is it acceptable to start openly feeling Christmassy? This is not a hypothetical question – I’d genuinely like to know.
Because you see, I start to feel festive from about September the 1st. I hold it in as best I can but by October I’m ready to burst with plans and excitement. I want to play Christmas songs, I want to wear Christmas jumpers, I want to eat my weight in mince pies. But I don’t, because I’m a grown up and apparently it’s not ok to bounce around like Mrs Christmas, when the children have just gone back to school.
I want to watch Santa Claus the Movie, The Night They Saved Christmas, Miracle on 34th Street, The Polar Express, Meet Me in St Luis and The Snowman on a daily basis – but I settle for The Nightmare Before Christmas….which is a Halloween film and not a christmas film in any way.
I have to find secret ways to revel in my slightly premature Christmas cheer. I add cinnamon to my hot chocolate, there’s a little glitter in my nail polish and although you wouldn’t know unless I showed you, my socks have reindeer on them today 🙂 And now I’ve been introduced to a new way to be secretly festive.
Ashleigh & Burwood have released a White Christmas candle. Isn’t it pretty?
There’s something so delicate about the white and silver packaging and there’s no red wax or gold ribbon in sight, so you can get away with displaying it before December 1st. If you can bear to part with it, the candle comes in a luxurious box topped with a little bow, so it would make an impressive gift.
‘But what does it smell like?’ I hear you cry, ‘does it smell like Christmas?’
Well yes and no.
If you’re expecting hints of apple and cinnamon, pine or ginger, then I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed. This candle does not smell like every other ‘Christmas candle’ on the market. For a start it smells like perfume rather than air freshener – if they released the scent as an eau de parfum, I’d be the first in the queue to buy it! It smells of musk and rose and caramel and a spice that I can’t quite put my finger on. As though you’d walked into a grand house with beautiful floral displays, log fires lit and biscuits baking in the kitchen.
It smells like posh Christmas 🙂 and now my house does too!
I know it’s early but the candle has 45 hours of burn time, so I should still have a little left by December 25th and anyway, who decides when it’s acceptable to start burning Christmassy candles?
If you’re already feeling warm and fuzzy about Christmas and would like the chance to enjoy some under cover festiveness like me, you might like to enter my competition to win an Ashleigh & Burwood White Christmas candle.
Merry (not even almost) Christmas!!
